Swedish Flower Color Highlight - Sno Leopard

Wednesday, 14 June 2017

juvenile

This is a really cool color pattern and one of the rarest out there in the Swedish Flower Hen genetic make-up.  It shows up occasionally, and the birds look amazing because of the combination of gold, black, and white feathers.  In the case of the "sno leopord" pattern, many of the flowered feather tips are replaced with black instead of white.  We have two sno leaopord siblings (pictured above) that are seperated into different free range breeding areas to ensure those genes are common in our flock!  "Altai", our sno leopord rooster is named after the word for "Gold Mountain" in Mongolian, and also is the name of a mountain range which is home to the Endangered Snow Leopard cats.
